Rodney moved into media banking twenty five years ago when he set up the film and television division of UK merchant bank Hill Samuel & Co. Limited.
From there he moved to Coutts & Co. and created and managed the media banking division. In 1998, as a partner of Coutts & Co., Rodney formed a joint venture with North American insurance concerns AON and CNA to finance commercial films on a bank debt/equity basis.
In 2000 he set up Cobalt Pictures. This was merged with Winchester Entertainment in 2003, which was then the subject of a reverse take over and became Content Film plc, where he remained until April 2005 as executive director for film finance and sales.
For six years, the maximum permitted period, he was a governor of the British Film Institute as a government appointee.
Rodney is currently a director of Oceana Media Finance an LA based company capitalised at one hundred million dollars specialising in film financing and P&A costs for North American distribution.
