A list of the responsibilities the BFI will be taking over from the UKFC include distribution of lottery money, tax credit certification, audience development and the strategy/funding of the nations and regions.

Ed Vaizey whent on to say UK film-makers will benefit from a 50% increase in National Lottery funding. In monetary terms, that will be a rise from £27m to £40m by 2014.

Film London also emerges stronger after Ed Vaizey's announcement, which will be responsible for promoting film investment from foreign partners including Hollywood. David Parfitt takes over the chairmanship of Film London from Sandy Lieberson.
