Movie Mogul.co.uk For the Love of Film Blog

It seems the announcement of Amazon's new film streaming service might have been released a little early, in what appears to be the accidental publication of a 'screen shot' promoting it.
The mistake was swiftly rectified and the 'screen shot' withdrawn, but not before being captured by the Engadget tech blog; who revealed the company is planning for its Amazon Prime membership to include access to 'unlimited' instant streaming of 5,000 movies and TV shows with no extra payment required.

This is the latest step in the face of a fierce competition with Netflix who are busily changing the dynamics of content delivery in a major way.

Having cut streaming deals with Paramount, Lionsgate & MGM for a 5 year cycle, Netflix are making inroads into the audiences for Pay-TV and DVD rental, with Blockbuster already filing for Bankruptcy protection in the USA.

The advance of web-based delivery options continues with subscribers already shifting from cable to the net in the US, Amazon clearly understand how important that shift is, what it means for the future of film distribution overall and they want to keep on the leading edge of these advances.
